edition 108.

sorry for dropping the ball last week — if you’re following me on IG and a story watcher, you’ll have known that I had the first midterm (we have two midterms and a final in 10 weeks… it’s insane) in the class that I’m TAing. my boss wasn’t kidding when she told me she comes home exhausted at the end of each night for an entire quarter straight. on top of that, my roommate is on crutches and I was being a caretaker before and after work… but that really still is no excuse :’)

all of this to say is that I have to have better time management. I love writing 1-1-1 and I should prioritise the things that I love because they fill my cup.

today I wrote about something near to my heart: high functioning depression. this edition is dedicated to all of those who struggle but are seen by the outside world as “fine.” I was one of you in college: drowning without acknowledgement. I see you. I hear you. your struggles are valid.

finally, this edition is paid. if you find my writing valuable and you want to support my work, please consider becoming a paid subscriber — a monthly subscription is $6, around a price of a coffee. you’ll get access to all of my previous editions, free and paid.

the 1-1-1 newsletter is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.

you can expect one email from me every week containing:

  • one quote that has been inspiring me

  • one journal prompt

  • one piece of advice*

* = if you want to submit a question for my upcoming emails, you can find the form here.

I also have a cosy substack called still warm where I write half-baked ideas about love, culture, and society. I have a few essays over there that may be of interest which I’m linking here. they’re the new home for my mini 1s (which I used to send here!)

podcast

there are tons of guest episodes on the podcast from 2024 that are worth checking out — listen to them here <3
