1-1-1: how to take actionable steps
read about how i construct this newsletter and how you can make your passion project a reality as well.
october, 2023
edition 35.
it’s saturday (just kidding i’m finishing this on monday) and i’m sitting down to write the newsletter — call me mega productive / someone who is on top of their work flow <3 i’m learning from last week!
today I’m going to a trapeze class that’s offered by my gym… I have no idea what to expect and I’m beyond sore (like perhaps the most sore I’ve ever been in my life) but I want to push myself to do this class and then I’ll take like 3 rest days afterwards. I’ll update y’all on how trapeze was in next weeks edish.
I woke up today with this ‘wow’ feeling. the realisation that I’m here, in london, studying a subject I am so fascinated in and building a community and living out one of my longest childhood dreams. wow. I’m sitting down to write a newsletter that is going to be read in 100 countries. thank you thank you thank you. I never express my gratitude enough and I have so much trouble putting all of these feelings into words. nothing to say but thank you.
you can expect one email from me every week containing:
one quote that has been inspiring me
one journal prompt
one piece of advice*
* = if you want to submit a question for my upcoming emails, you can find the form here.
podcast
new episode about my first week living in london (filmed in early september) to kick off a mini-series about moving to a new city — listen to it here <3
one quote
“we are very good at preparing to live, but not very good at living. we know how to sacrifice ten years for a diploma, and we are willing to work very hard to get a job, a car, a house, and so on. but we have difficulty remembering that we are alive in the present moment, the only moment there is for us to be alive.”

one journal prompt
what is something I’ve always wanted to do but haven’t yet? can I take the first step towards completing it this week?
one piece of advice
“How do u brainstorm for the newsletter ?”
what a fun question! if you want to pick my brain, here’s my process:
I scroll through the list of answers to my advice box (which you can find here) and choose something that resonates with me that day
I have a folder of screenshotted quotes/messages/book passages that I use for the quote section — I try to match the quote and journal prompt to whatever topic the advice is
same with the journal prompt, I’ll either find a journal prompt from that folder of things I’ve saved OR I’ll search up a list of prompts on google and pick what resonates with me
for the actual advice section, I will sit down and brain dump anything in my brain. honestly I don’t normally proofread the newsletter so this is ~the most raw and real version~ of me. the reason why I’m able to craft something of substance in this section is because, again, it’s something I’ve been thinking about, working through, or resonates with me.
because I know you’re not necessarily reading the newsletter for advice on how to write your own, let me leave you with a simple thought:
everyone was once a beginner. you can scroll back and read the first few newsletter I ever published (and which reached maybe 100 inboxes total) — I was a beginner. if you’re serious about pursuing something, you’ll make it happen. if not, you’ll make an excuse. so don’t make any more excuses and start today. it’s okay to fail big and fail publicly as long as you continue trying. whatever it is that you want to start, take an actionable step today.
