1-1-1: the most valuable lessons of my early 20s
read five more tips on how to make the most of your early 20s.
february, 2025
edition 63.
on this episode of ‘lessons katie had to learn in her early 20s,’ I reflect on boundary setting caused friendship fallouts amongst other things. it’s hard to believe I’m 24 — does that mean I’m in my mid 20s ?! — because it seems like just yesterday that I was moving into my college freshman dorm. it’s crazy to think of how much perspective five years can bring.
on another note, I want to emphasize that the advice in these newsletters are perspectives I’ve picked up but may be things I am still not 100% comfortable with yet either.
I keep preaching about how transformative it was to learn how to be alone and how comfortable I am with my own company, only to feel completely lost when I had plans cancelled last minute. going out on a solo date is still a “thing” for me — more of a ‘thing’ than it should be if it was something I could spend time getting comfortable with and have that be that. but being alone not something that I’ve practiced for a while and my skills are rusty. all of this to say that I don’t have the blueprint and we’re all just figuring it out together :)
but that’s what I love about this space and this newsletter: it’s messy and it has typos (sometimes) and it’s being written by someone who has been in your position or is currently in your position. it’s like reading a voice memo transcript or a brain dump of my thoughts. I love it and I am so grateful. thank you for continuing to read my work and make editions like this possible.
